Creating a PDF document
Portable Document Format (PDF) was invented to ensure that a document, once created, would appear and behave in exactly the same manner no matter where it was displayed after that.
For this reason we recommend PDF as the file type to use for all documents you fax. We support other file types however they should only be used when you are unable to create a PDF.
General guidelines to using PDF for internet faxing are to keep them as simple as possible and only include what should come out of the fax at the other end.
Fax itself is a bitonal, (i.e. black and white) protocol. As such it is recommended that all PDF files are recorded as black and white or gray scale. Our servers are great for transmitting faxes, however as the sender, we believe you're the best person to decide what your fax should look like.
For generating PDF documents we typically recommend using a free PDF tool called "PDF Creator".
PDF Creator can be obtained at the following URL: PDF Creator
Once you have downloaded and installed PDF Creator you will be able to use the "Print" function from within your preferred software to generate your PDF. Generating your PDF using PDF Creator can be done by selecting "PDF Creator" from you available printers in the Print dialog box. The Print dialog box can be accessed from most programs by clicking "File" followed by "Print".
Please note that while we try to maintain the largest possible compatibility, we are not able to blanket support each of these tools. If you have tried at least one of these tools and are having specific issues with your PDF creation please let us know.
